This website is owned and operated by the Asian Pacific Society of Cardiology (the “APSC “). We are committed to protecting the privacy of our visitors while they interact with the content and services on the APSC website (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy applies to the Website only. It does not apply to other external websites to which we link. Because we gather certain types of information about our users, we want you to understand what information we collect about you, how we collect it, how that information is used, and how you can control our disclosure of it. You agree that you accept this Privacy Policy by visiting the Website.
1. Information Collected
We collect two types of information from you: i) information that you voluntarily provide to us (e.g. through a voluntary registration process, sign-ups or e-mails); and ii) information that is derived through automated tracking mechanisms.
Voluntary Registration Information
Most of the content of the Website can be accessed without registering. But you do have to register to access the Member areas of the Website and certain personal services, such as paying your Fellow dues using PayPal, and you must first complete the registration process, during which we will collect personally identifiable information about you, including your name, job title, institution, postal address, e-mail address, work telephone number, work fax number, the name of your national cardiology society, and your Fellowship status. We do not collect personally identifiable information about you except when you specifically provide such information to us on a voluntary basis.
By registering yourself with us, you consent to how we use and disclose such information as described in this Privacy Policy.
Voluntary Information for Services and Features
We also collect another personally identifiable information when you choose to use certain other features of the Website, including: i) paying Fellowship dues, ii) consenting to receive e-mail messages about upcoming promotions or events, iii) consenting to receive e-mail, iv) participating in our forum, iv) commenting on articles, and others. When you choose to use these additional features, we require you to provide your “Contact Information” in addition to other personally identifiable information that may be required to complete a transaction such as your phone number, billing and shipping addresses and credit card information (e.g., you need your “Contact Information” to use PayPal for payment of your annual dues for APSC Fellowship.).
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file stored on a user’s computer that a website can use to recognize repeat users and facilitate their ongoing access to and use of a website. The use of cookies is an industry standard and may enable for websites to provide useful features. Cookies only identify a specific computer, however, they would not identify a specific person or include any personally identifiable information. Furthermore they would pose no threat to your computer.
The Website uses cookies to store users’ preferences and to record information of each session. We do not and will not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information from any user, unless such user intentionally submits such information to us.

2. How We Use Your Information
The APSC only uses your personally identifiable information for the original purposes it was given. Your personally identifiable information will not be sold or otherwise transferred to unaffiliated third parties without your prior consent.
The APSC will not disclose, use, give or sell any personally identifiable information of yours to third parties for any purposes unless we believe we are required to do so by law. Further, the APSC reserves the right to contact you regarding matters relevant to the underlying service provided and/or the information collected.
Please note that personally identifiable information is used only to provide you with a more enjoyable, convenient online experience and to help us identify and/or provide information, products or services that may be of interest to you. We use your personally identifiable information to support and enhance your use of the Website and its features.
We may permit certain trusted third parties to track usage, analyze data such as the source address that a page request is coming from, your IP address or domain name, the date and time of the page request, the referring website (if any) and other parameters in the URL; none of these are personally identifiable information, but only computer-specific information. These information are collected to better understand how the Website is used, and enhance the performance of our services to maintain and operate the Website and its certain features. Please note that we may use third parties to host the Website and operate various features available on the Website. Further more, we use non-identifying and aggregate information both for better design of our website and for administrative purposes.
The APSC may disclose Contact Information in special cases where we have reason to believe that disclosing such information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against those who may be violating our terms and conditions of use or may be causing injury or interference with our rights, property, customers or those who could be harmed by such violation.

3. How We Protect Your Information
We are committed to protecting your personally identifiable information we receive from you. We take appropriate security measures to protect your personally identifiable information against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personally identifiable information. To prevent unauthorized access to, maintain accuracy of, and ensure the correct use of your personally identifiable information, we maintain appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure your personally identifiable information stored in our system. While no computer system is completely secure, we believe the measures we have implemented reduce the chances of accident relating to security to an appropriate level for personally identifiable information. The Website has an SSL certificate to further ensure the security of your personally identifiable information.
4. Third-Party Advertising
Advertisements appearing on this Website may be delivered to you by one of our Web advertising partners. Our Web advertising partners may set cookies. Doing this allows our Web advertising partners to recognize your computer each time they send you an advertisement. In this way, they may compile information about where you or the others using your computer saw their advertisements and determine which advertisement was clicked. This information allow our Web advertising partners to deliver targeted advertisement that they believe will be of most interest to you. The APSC does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed by the third-party advertising servers of our Web advertising partners.
This privacy statement covers the use of cookies by the APSC and does not cover the use of cookies by any of our Web advertising partners. Thus, we are not responsible for their privacy practices or privacy policies.
5. Accessing and Updating Your Personal Information and Preferences
We provide mechanisms for updating and correcting your personally identifiable information. You may modify or remove any of your personally identifiable information at any time by logging in your account and accessing features such as edit and account.
6. E – mail Choice/Opt-out
If you no longer wish to receive e-mails, updates or notifications, you may opt-out of receiving them by changing your “e-mail notification” settings in your “account settings.” Otherwise, you may send an e-mail to secretariat@apscardio.org. Then, we will make reasonable efforts to implement your opt-out requests as promptly as practical. The process would be completed within ten days following our receipt of your e-mail.
7. Disclaimer to Security
By consenting to the Terms and Conditions of the Website and this Privacy Policy, you acknowledge that no data transmission over the Internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you provide to us and you admit that you transmit such information to us at your own risk.
8. Notification of Changes
The APSC reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time at its sole discretion. If at some point in the future, there is a change to our Privacy Policy, unless we obtain your express consent, such change will only apply to information collected after the revised Privacy Policy took effect. Your continued use of the Website indicates your assent to the Privacy Policy as posted.
